The Country Round Paris

"The Country Round Paris" is an evocative and scholarly exploration of the historic and picturesque landscapes that encircle the French capital. This work serves as a literary and artistic guide to the Ile-de-France, a region steeped in centuries of royal history and cultural significance.

Through vivid prose, Edmond Pilon transports readers to the grand estates and tranquil villages that define the Parisian outskirts. The narrative covers iconic locations such as Versailles, Fontainebleau, and Saint-Germain, while also delving into the hidden gems of the Valois and the scenic banks of the Marne and Seine rivers. The author examines the architectural splendors of magnificent chateaus, the solemn beauty of ancient cathedrals, and the lush expanses of royal forests that have inspired generations of painters and poets.

Focusing on the intersection of nature, art, and heritage, "The Country Round Paris" provides a deep appreciation for the French spirit found beyond the city walls. It is an essential work for those interested in French history, regional architecture, and the timeless charm of the European countryside.
