About this title

Synopsis:

Partially sighted, Fred Craver lives in a world of dark and light guided by a white cane. Yet this challenge is easier than some of the others he has faced. In his new book, Courageous Healing: How to Fully and Quickly Recover from Traumatic Experiences or Feelings of Anger and Resentment, author Fred Craver, Ph.D., reveals for the first time new techniques for healing he discovered through his own unrelenting struggle.

His book helps people to overcome trauma and eliminate long-held feelings of anger and resentment. His technique for dealing with anger also shows people how to defuse their feelings before they evolve into serious conditions. Courageous Healing combines Fred’s memoir of self-discovery and guidelines for self-healing.

About the Author:

Courage is a quality Fred Craver possesses in abundance. Armed with a background in science and an unwavering desire for self-healing, Fred persisted through thirty years of self-exploration. That fearless and painstaking search has led to enormous personal growth for Fred and is the hallmark of his book, Courageous Healing.

Plagued with physical and emotional ailments through much of his life, Fred has worked hard and patiently to understand himself and his world. His quest has led him to workshops in co-counseling where he learned invaluable approaches to healing. He also matured from attending seminars held by est, Actualizations, and Insight. He learned to meditate using biofeedback.

For six years, he taught physics at St. John Fisher College near Rochester, New York. Fred is a partially sighted person whose declining vision then led him to a new career choice in human services. To prepare himself, he earned a masterís degree in counseling at Northeastern University. For a few years, he ran a summer vacation program for blind adults sponsored by the Massachusetts Association for the Blind. Success there led to working several more years as Director and Social Worker for the Ellis Memorial Centerís Adult Day Health Program in Boston. Later, working at the Army Research Laboratory located nearby, Fred had the honor of being in charge of the Combined Federal Campaign, which encourages federal employees to make charitable contributions.

Fred Craver has recently embarked upon an exciting career path in public speaking. He is an active member of the National Speakers Association (NSA). He has spoken several times for first-time attendees at their annual conventions and educational workshops. From his local chapter, NSA New England, he received the Helping Hands Award, an honor bestowed upon members who make significant service contributions to the chapter. Fred served as president of his local Toastmasters club where he participated in contests that earned him four speaking trophies. He launched his career by speaking at Kiwanis, Lions, and Rotary clubs, where he met with positive reviews and often a standing ovation.

Fred received his bachelorís degree in physics from Cornell University and his masterís and doctoral degrees in the same subject from the University of Rochester. His Ph.D. research was a theoretical exploration of energy transfer among molecules in two- and three-dimensional solutions. Based on this research, he published two papers in scientific journals.

The self-styled experiments tested on himself, which Fred describes in Courageous Healing, demonstrate his discipline, uncommon courage, and resolve. His hope that these new techniques will benefit others to the same extent they have healed him, inspired this book.
