A Course in Magic (Fantasy and Horror Classics): (Fantasy and Horror Classics)

What happens when a magical education falls into the hands of three very ordinary children? Chaos, naturally.

When the three children of the quiet, respectable Carter family receive a letter informing them that a course of magic has been booked for their use, they are thrilled and utterly unprepared. This isn't grand, epic sorcery; it's a practical, hands-on, and highly unpredictable kind of power.

From their first lesson, the children quickly discover that magic is less about saving the world and more about creating magnificent trouble in the living room. Whether they accidentally enchant their toys, conjure unexpected guests, or simply can't figure out the proper way to un-do a spell, every act of learning leads to glorious, hilarious mischief.

The challenges are relentless: Can they prevent their magic from turning their father into a goldfish? Will they learn to control their powers before they accidentally summon something truly terrible?

E. Nesbit, the master of blending the mundane with the miraculous, delivers a delightful and witty tale that proves that sometimes the most potent force in the universe is simply a child with a poorly-translated spellbook and a complete lack of foresight.

Edith Nesbit (1858 1924) was an English poet and author. She is most well known for her children's literature, publishing more than 60 such books under the pen name E. Nesbit. She was also a political activist and co-founded the Fabian Society, which had a significant influence on the Labour Party and British politics in general.
