This edition reflects the sixth printing 2019 of A Course in Miracles Original Edition Workbook, Manual Pocket Edition, published by the Course in Miracles Society (CIMS). The Pocket Edition contains the complete and unabridged Workbook for Students and Manual for Teachers portion of A Course in Miracles Original Edition (ACIM OE). It is the companion volume to the popular ACIM OE Pocket Edition Text, also published by the Course in Miracles Society.
The Original Edition reflects the scribing originally undertaken by Helen Schucman and William (Bill) Thetford and completed in 1972. The manuscript underlying this edition was first published in 2006 by the Course in Miracles Society (CIMS).
The Workbook for Students consists of 365 lessons designed to be practiced daily. Its purpose is to retrain the mind and gently heal perception through the consistent application of the Course’s principles. The Manual for Teachers provides guidance for deepening the understanding that we are all teachers, while addressing common questions on the nature of the teacher-student relationship.
This edition is called the “Pocket Edition” because it was designed to travel easily with the student. Measuring approximately 8 x 5 inches and less than one inch thick, it fits comfortably into a backpack, briefcase, or purse. It is printed on durable paper and features a laminated cover that helps resist wear, spots, and staining, making it well-suited for study at home or on the go.
Helen Schucman (1909-1981) was a clinical psychologist and research associate at Columbia University. She is best known for her role in the scribing of A Course in Miracles, a spiritual text that emerged through a collaborative process and was later organized and edited for publication.
William N. Thetford (1923-1988) was a professor of psychology and department chair at Columbia University. He collaborated closely with Helen Schucman in the organization, editing, and preparation of A Course in Miracles for publication.
