A Course of Physico-Theological Lectures Upon the State of the World, from the Creation to the Deluge

A Course Of Physico-Theological Lectures Upon The State Of The World, From The Creation To The Deluge by Robert Miln. This eighteenth-century work offers a systematic defence of sacred history by uniting reason and revelation. Miln surveys Genesis and the creation, fall, and Flood, arguing the veracity of Moses and the unity of natural and moral government under a benevolent Creator. Drawing on moral philosophy, natural philosophy, and biblical exegesis, the lectures explain how the created order exhibits wisdom and benevolence, how human beings are framed for happiness, and how revelation complements human reason. The course discusses the origin of the world, the nature of death, the state of the antediluvians, the formation of the family, and the early patriarchs, tracing the plan of divine providence through Noah to the postdiluvian world. It remains a notable eighteenth-century example of physico-theology and biblical interpretation.
