It is a fact that there are more jumping events than there are good course builders. A good course designer is both architect and artist, and he or she must understand not only the mind, body and level of ability of the horse, but also consider the rider, the type of event and the spectator. This is a complete guide to course building, with analysis of how a horse jumps, tests and distances and planning and setting up a course as well as a look at the use of water in courses, indoor jumping and courses for ponies.
