BOOK CONDITION: Some fraying and chipping at spine ends mostly and at edges a bit, binding is tight and the book is clean. Two pages show foxing from something left in the book otherwise text is unmarked. DESCRIPTION: The Select Committee to Investigate Alleged Corruptions in Government which operated during the spring and summer of 1860 during the 36th Congress. The committee was charged with a broad investigation of the administration of President Buchanan, including possible impeachment. It was also referred to as the Covode Committee after its chairman, John Covode of Pennsylvania.
