Leather bound with gilt title to ribbed spine. 65 illustrations; 36 full-page steel engravings of great racehorses, 10 full-page plates of prominent racing gentlemen, and 19 textual wood-cuts. Plates of gentleman are discoloured around edges and title page also discoloured: appears a different paper or printing was used. Previous owner's signature on front endpaper as well as a gift inscription dated 1944 from the owner's wife who is passing it on as a present. Covers scuffed. No date; appears to be a contemporary rebound first edition with the 65 illustrations.
