The Cradle of the Christ A Study in Primitive Christianity

The book examines the environment in which Christianity emerged, exploring the cultural, political, and religious influences of the time, especially within the context of Judaism, the Roman Empire, and the surrounding Greco-Roman world. Frothingham explores the early Christian communities, their teachings, and their struggles in the face of persecution, while also considering the ways in which early Christianity diverged from its Jewish roots and developed its own distinct identity. "The Cradle of the Christ" aims to shed light on the historical and intellectual origins of Christianity, providing a broader understanding of how early Christian beliefs and practices were shaped. The work reflects Frothingham's interest in the historical Jesus, early Christian thought, and the spiritual and intellectual currents that helped give rise to the Christian faith as it is known today. It remains an important work for those studying the early history of Christianity and its intellectual and cultural foundations.
