The Crafts Supply Sourcebook: A Comprehensive Shop-By-Mail Guide

Two broad categories--General Arts, Crafts, & Hobbies and Needlecrafts, Sewing, & Fiber Arts--include more than 2,500 detailed supplier listings. A comprehensive resource section features hundreds of listings for information, supplies, and publications for those in or about to become active in a crafts business.

Where can one find instructional videos on bobbin lacemaking? Or a source for small quantities of custom labels for handknit sweaters? Or a mail-order supplier of fishing-rod building supplies? These are some of the questions answered in this comprehensive directory, which updates information in the author's earlier Catalog Sources for Creative People ( LJ 5/1/81). Virtually every popular craft from basketry to knitting to woodworking is covered, with each listing including firm name, address, and catalog ordering information, plus a brief description of products or services offered. For textile crafts, libraries will want to supplement this guide with Bobbi A. McRae's Fabric & Fiber Sourcebook (Taunton Pr., 1989); McRae's book has more detailed listings and superior indexing. This is recommended for general purchase.
