A school is on the run from a large, noisy, foul-smelling portion of food that has escaped from its pan in the cafeteria and is traveling through the halls, eating everything in its path
Reviews:
Grade 2-3 When the unappetizing school lunch comes to life and eats the cook, the principal and various members of the armed forces, the school children turn to Mickey who "will eat anything." Mickey whips out two spoons and proceeds to eat not only the food, but also the medal he is later presented with for saving the school. This seems to be a take-off on the TV commercial for cereal, "Give it to Mikey. He'll eat anything." The easy-reader text is choppy, but the situation will appeal to children who are often faced with unappetizing lunches. Scratchy cartoon-like illustrations in full color add to the humor. This may fill the need for paperback easy readers, but Patricia Reilly Giff's "Kids of the Polk Street School" series (Dell) is a much better look at school humor.
