About the Author
Meg Ormiston is an author and a presenter who specializes in transforming teaching and learning through the power of digital tools. She focuses her research on how curriculum can be delivered through the use of visual images, simulations, and multimedia coupled with real-time assessment that is aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
For more than twenty-five years, Meg has worked with educators to implement changes that will improve instructional practices in the classroom. She has an extensive curriculum background, including designing and improving curricula K-12 curricula using digital tools. Meg's specialty is helping educators see that teaching and learning can be done in fresh new ways using technology. An internationally known keynote speaker, Meg engages audiences with powerful digital stories and captivating examples about how teaching and learning can be transformed.
Meg was in the classroom for twelve years teaching grades 2-6 and has also served as a K-8 mathematics, technology, and curriculum coach; a school board member; a professional development specialist; and a grant facilitation specialist. She has authored several books, written numerous articles and blog posts, and collaborated on professional videos. She is also involved in many personal learning communities.
Improving student learning is her central goal for every professional development session. Her classroom background and her wide range of experience give her credibility with teachers, and the practical examples she offers and her upbeat style enrich her presentations and writing and make them especially effective.
Meg holds a master s degree in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University.
