Here is a synopsis of the content of the book, chapter by chapter.

Purpose

Overcome Analysis Paralysis; Purpose & target market – avatars; Elevator pitch – who are you and who do you help?; Design worries; Competitors; Discussion of platforms – WordPress.org vs. WordPress.com

Every website should have one main purpose. And that purpose needs to be really simple.

Domain

Ideas; Keywords; Brand; Registration

The domain name is the something, in the www.something.com, of your website's address.

Hosting

Shared, VPS, Dedicated, Cloud; Name-servers; WordPress, (blog title, pretty permalinks, admin username)

Now that we,ve decided on a domain name, there's only one more thing to do before the excitement starts and we can create a website. And that's finding a web host.

Blog

Regularity; What to write about; Social / relationships / comments

Your website will live or die on content. So you may as well get started NOW!

Design

Themes (free vs. premium); Responsive; Threaded comments; Featured images; How to get a great logo and branding

Design consistency is important for your brand's recognition. But I just don't want you to stress or spend a lot of money on it. (I know, this sounds strange coming from a designer.)

WordPress

Essentials; XML Sitemap; Google Webmaster Tools; Google Analytics; SEO (titles); Contact Page; Ensuring zero spam; Subscribe to comments; Social bookmarking buttons; Cache & speed; Security; Backing up; Favicon

You have to implement or engage with most of those essential WordPress tasks. Of course, you could pay someone to do this for you, but I would challenge you to do it yourself. All the information is at your fingertips.

Connecting Social Media

Twitter; Facebook; Google Maps; YouTube

I have purposely made this section of the booklet short, as I think that a lot of time can be wasted on social media.

Relationships

Comment – gravatar; Social media; Email; Meetup; Conferences

This is one of the most important chapters in the whole book. The subject of this chapter is critical to your website's success. It's something that is all around you, it's something you interact with every day and yet you,d sometimes think it has nothing to do with your business. People!

Making Money

Community; Email list; Consultancy (hours for money); Affiliate; Ads; Info products; Membership; SaaS

Don't think it's all about money, because it isn't. Profit is a great metric to measure success, but it,s not why we do what we do. We do what we do to help people. If we,re not making any money, we,re not helping anyone, so here,s how you can make money with a business website.

You can do it!

I hope the readers of this little book will be inspired to create brands and businesses with WordPress sites, just as I have.
