What if creativity is not a rare gift reserved for artists and geniuses — but a skill already hidden inside every child?
The Creative Genius Within is an inspiring and practical guide that helps young readers aged 8–13 discover how creativity really works, how ideas are formed, and how imagination can become a powerful tool for solving problems, expressing emotions, and building a meaningful future. Through real stories, brain science, creative exercises, and step-by-step techniques, this book teaches children that creativity is not magic — it is something they can train, grow, and use every single day.
Inside this book, readers will explore:
- What Is Creativity? — Busting the three big myths, the four dimensions of creativity (Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, Elaboration), and Rabindranath Tagore's story of creating without boundaries
- The Creative Brain — The Default Mode Network, Executive Control Network, Salience Network, the four-stage creative process (Preparation, Incubation, Illumination, Verification), and A.R. Rahman's story of mixing every musical tradition
- Imagination — Your Greatest Tool — The four powers of imagination (Synthesis, Empathy, Possibility Thinking, Sensory Imagination), how to feed your imagination, and Satyajit Ray's thirty years of preparation before his first film
- Creative Habits and Daily Practices — The six essential habits, why habits beat inspiration, and Ruskin Bond's daily writing practice of over seventy years
- Idea Generation — Finding Your Flow — Six techniques including Brainstorming, Random Association, SCAMPER, Six Thinking Hats, Worst Possible Idea, and Sundar Pichai's perspective-driven creativity
- Creative Courage and Overcoming Blocks — The six faces of creative block, twelve unblocking strategies, and M.F. Husain's fearless approach to painting
- The Many Forms of Creative Expression — Writing, visual art, music, making; finding your creative voice, and Zaha Hadid's refusal to compromise her architectural vision
- Creativity and Problem-Solving — The CPS framework, reframing techniques, constraints as creative catalysts, and APJ Abdul Kalam's innovation under constraint
- Collaboration and the Creative Community — What true collaboration means, giving and receiving feedback, and the Shantiniketan spirit of creating together
- Your Creative Life Plan — Portfolio building, protecting creativity as you grow, the creative life in practice, and a complete checklist
Also includes: Full Glossary of 36 creativity terms, Quick Reference Guide, and a personal Creative Commitment signing page.
Filled with activities, reflective exercises, and powerful stories from legendary creators across art, science, music, architecture, cinema, and innovation, this book encourages children to think independently, trust their ideas, and develop the confidence to create boldly.
Perfect for curious minds, young artists, writers, inventors, dreamers, homeschoolers, classrooms, and families who want to nurture originality, imagination, and lifelong creative thinking.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
