Creative Prayer is a modern classic for those seeking an approach to prayer, for those wishing to tap the prayer wisdom of the early fathers, and for those who want to set their lukewarm efforts on fire. Written at the turn of the century by Brigid E.
Brigid E. Herman was born in Prague in 1875 and died in London on December 2, 1923. She was the wife of a Presbyterian minister who died quite young, leaving no children. Mrs. Herman, called simply "E.H." by her associates, gave herself to journalism and serious writing until her death at 48. She is best known for her contributions to theology and the devotional life. She preferred writing under the name "E. Herman" and wrote one book under the pen name of Hugh Sinclair.
Creative Prayer is probably Ms. Herman's finest book and endures because of its clarity, depth, simplicity and mystical insights.
