Credo: Faith and Philosophy in Contemporary Ireland

If faith trusts and hopes, philosophy speculates and argues. This book draws on the rich resources of both faith (revelation) and philosophy (reason) in approaching the existence of God and questions about religion. In an age of crass capitalism and cynicism, questions inevitably arise concerning our souls and spiritual state. The essays within this book, diverse as they are, are philosophical as well as personal testimonies and apologias of the Christian faith, penned by believers who belong to a broad range of professions, from professional philosophy and theology to psychoanalysis and law. Credo: I believe. But in what do you believe? This books is a personal and passionate enquiry into that question.

Stephen J. Costello lectures in lectures in philosophy and psychoanalysis at University College Dublin, Trinity College and LSB College. He is also the author of The Irish Soul: In Dialogue and editor of The Search for Spirituality: Seven Paths within the Catholic Tradition, both published by The Liffey Press.
