About the Author
Checklists, illustrations, charts, diagrams and exercises abound to give the written word visual significance so you can read it and see it. Reader exercises follow strategy and technique chapters with correct answers provided. All content is designed to reveal and teach game winning techniques such as the prime directive, rule of seven and rule of three. Understanding how the characteristics of cards differ in various aspects of the game is essential to winning such as appropriately applying the favored Jack and repugnant King theories during the throw-off process and knowing when and why a five should be chosen over a nine to be played against a seven during pegging play. It is critical to understand how pegging play differs between the dealer and non-dealer.
Catch phrases are used to allow a player to instantly recognize and employ game winning techniques as the need arises. They are new and specifically invented to be easily retained in memory such as cards whose relationships are compatible, friendly and unfriendly. Board position recognition and strategy is a must to any cribbage player's game arsenal. That complex concept is carefully illustrated for immediate utilization as a game winning technique.
The author's new reinvented approach to the 121-point game simplifies the most complex aspects of cribbage to render the difficult readily usable. And for those hard-core stalwarts that want to study the esoteric inner-workings of cribbage; that too is here.
These newly invented playing techniques can change your game from one that everybody wants to play against to one dreaded by all opponents, taking it to a world class level. It is all about learning how to employ an optimum strategy given the active game information at hand and being able to do that with a single glance at the cards.
For instance, beginning a second round of pegging play it is pone's lead with two cards remaining to choose from, a six (6) and a ten (10). Dealer also has two remaining cards. Which card does Pone lead, the six or the ten? The correct response is the six, but why? Because if pone leads the ten, the dealer can play a six and since pone has only a six remaining, dealer could score a triple for a seven point pegging play if dealer has a third six. But, if pone leads the six then the dealer can only pair the six and inasmuch as the pone's remaining ten card will take the running count to 22, that ten card cannot be paired. Thus, the dealer's pegging potential has been held in check. It is a form of damage control.
There is a whole lot more to the card game of Cribbage than you ever imagined, 158 pages, to be exact within the 2/26/2008 edition. Good luck and keep on pegging.
