2019 Best Mystery Runner‑Up — Pacific Book Awards

A chilling mystery buried beneath Aspen’s glittering surface…
Aspen, Colorado—playground of the rich and famous, home to world‑class ski resorts, luxury chalets, and breathtaking mountain views. But when a respected wildlife ranger vanishes without a trace, the glamorous façade cracks wide open. Colorado Bureau of Investigation Agent Buck Taylor is called in, and what begins as a missing‑person search quickly spirals into one of the most disturbing homicide cases of his career.

With the help of a seasoned tracker, Buck uncovers the ranger’s mutilated remains deep in the backcountry. But the horror doesn’t end there. Hidden in a remote mountain cave lie 15 mummified young women, murdered decades earlier by a predator who has somehow remained invisible—until now.

As Buck and his team dig deeper, they uncover a deadly secret that threatens Aspen’s elite. And when the killer strikes again, panic ripples through the wealthy enclave. Someone is hunting in the shadows of Colorado’s most exclusive resort town… and Buck may already be in the crosshairs.
