Bound volume of the authorized reprint of The Crisis, the venerable NAACP journal of news and culture related to African-Americans; this volume, 39, collecting issues from January 1932 - December 1932. Arno released the volumes to some fanfare in 1969, competing with an unauthorized reprint by the Negro Universities Press, who did claim to have contacted the NAACP without response. Includes the covers and often very interesting ads, most for HBCUs and other educational opportunities, and a few for books, personal care products, restaurants, and hotels & apartments welcoming Black tenants. Large hardcover, as pictured; no jacket, as issued. Light wear, but some foxing, minor internally, more along the edges of the covers, some on top page edge; some smudging & bumping to the spine. Text clean, no names or marks; pagination irregular - about 440 pages; illustrations, photos, ads. Size: Quarto.
