A Critical Examination of Psycho-Analysis. This item is unavailable.A Critical Examination of Psycho-Analysis

"A Critical Examination of Psycho-Analysis" is a rigorous and systematic evaluation of the foundational theories of Sigmund Freud and the psychoanalytic movement. Written from the perspective of an experimental psychologist, A. Wohlgemuth provides a detailed critique of psychoanalytic methodology, questioning the scientific validity of its core tenets. The work meticulously analyzes key concepts such as the interpretation of dreams, the theory of the unconscious, and the mechanisms of repression, challenging whether these ideas meet the empirical standards of the time.

Throughout the text, Wohlgemuth examines the subjective nature of psychoanalytic evidence and the logic behind clinical interpretations. By contrasting Freudian claims with the principles of established psychological research and experimental observation, the author offers a skeptical yet scholarly counterpoint to the growing influence of psychoanalytic thought in the early 20th century. This volume serves as an essential historical document for readers interested in the evolution of psychological science, the philosophy of mind, and the intellectual debates that helped define the boundaries of modern mental health study. "A Critical Examination of Psycho-Analysis" remains a significant work for those seeking to understand the historical friction between experimental psychology and the rise of psychoanalysis.
