Two volumes in one. Full leather binding, dark green covers, black spine with red title patch. Strip of thick mylar tape covers spine to support hinges, apparently. Edge wear plentiful, plus bottom rear corner heavily bumped. Strips of reinforcement tape, white, inside front and rear covers. Gilt decoration and lettering on covers and spine. Decorative gilt patterns on spine are bright, and as fine and beautiful as can be found, one would think, on any book, despite the book's general condition and the glassine tape. White sticker and yellow quarter-inch dot on spine under tape, apparently applied by a library, though book is free of other library indications. Contains essays on Milton, Moore's Life of Lord Byron, Horace Walpole, William Pitt, Leigh Hunt, The Earl of Chatham, Addison, Frederic the Great, Von Ranke, Lord Clive, Gladstone and others. Two inscriptions on flyleaf dated 1869 and 1925, to and from same former owner, apparently. Seller Inventory # 6611
