It considers the health and well-being needs of esports athletes, across physical, mental, and social dimensions, as well as how nutrition and training relate to performance and injury prevention. This book also considers the economics of the esports industry and how the concept of sportification can be used to describe esports’ development, as well as the challenges and debates surrounding gender and representation in esports. About the Author

Annette R. Hofmann is Professor of Sports Studies and Didactics at the Ludwigsburg University, Germany. She is Vice President of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) and the German Olympic Academy (DOA) as well as one of the Vice Presidents of the German Gymnastic Federation (Deutsche Turner-Bund).

Pascal Mamudou Camara is Sport Science Research Manager at the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE). He holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Universidad Deportiva del Sur, Venezuela and a master’s degree in international sports development and politics and is a PhD candidate in sports science at the Institute of Sport History, German Sport University Cologne.
