Half leather binding at spine and outer corners. Marbled paper on boards.Spine has five raised bands with gilt lettering and decoration on a leather label. Rubbing and some mild fraying at top and bottom of spine and edges of boards, and marbled papering. Moderate loss to leather at rear of spine. The spine has a 5 cm split at the bottom if the fore-edge, as far as the first raised band. Previous owner's ink inscription on reverse of front end paper and at top of main title page. Discolouring to frontis portrait and title page. Very occasional light spotting throughout. Apart from mild loosening at the front hinge, caused by the split referred to above, the volume is tight. A Caxton edition endorsed as "An entirely New Edition, with considerable Improvements.". As Peter Taylor states in his comprehensive study of Walker's works, these editions are very difficult to date accurately. Seller Inventory # 000358
