His Cross and Ours

Few topics in the study of the Christian faith and the life of the church are more important than the cross. In His Cross and Ours, beloved pastor, teacher, and former chaplain of the Arkansas Razorbacks football team H. D. McCarty draws upon over half a century of ministry experience and theological reflection as he wrestles with the significance of Jesus's crucifixion and our own calling to take up the cross and follow him. With the inquisitive wit, infectious charm, and colorful anecdotes that made him a Northwest Arkansas cultural fixture, McCarty unpacks how Jesus's sacrificial death models for contemporary Christians how they must understand their role as His followers.

Engaging diverse topics ranging from the historical account of Jesus's death and his seven last sayings at the crucifixion to spiritual growth, salvation, and human suffering, McCarty explores the rich theological and practical implications that emerge when we stop and pay close attention to the cross. Dynamic yet accessible in its approach, His Cross and Ours offers an inspiring call to cross discipleship that Christians from all backgrounds will find incredibly persuasive, deeply personable, and utterly profound.
