This manual focuses on Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) which is used for non-therapeutic populations for learning, teaching, and goal setting. EAL can be used in a variety of ways for individuals and groups or teams.
About the Author
Bunny Young is an Army Wife who was diagnosed with a heart condition at a young age. Being dependent on a service dog has cultivated in Bunny an emphasis of inclusion and sensitivity for all populations. With a Master s Degree in Counseling and Psychology with a concentration in Equine Assisted Mental Health from Prescott College, Young has experience working with crisis response teams, first responders, trauma, depression, addiction, as well as criminal offenders. She currently co-facilitates an equine program for inpatient addiction and has developed programs for use of equines to assist people with eating disorders, PTSD, counseling, cancer survivors, as well professional development programs for doctors, lawyers, and executives. Young s consulting company, A Better Place Consulting, empowers and educates businesses and organizations about power of creating a positive work environment for employee and client retention. She teaches leadership and cultural sensitivity to law enforcement and correctional officers, volunteers with Dreamcatchers Therapeutic Riding, the Alzheimers Association, March of Dimes and served as the Chair of the American Heart Association. Young is also an active member of TRIAD, is on the Extraordinary Women s Exchange Committee, and is a Member of the Hanover Council on Aging. A national speaker, certified yoga instructor, and equine specialist who is competent in American Sign Language, Bunny Young is a powerhouse coach. Bunny s favorite place to be in the world is riding with an equine partner. She enjoys the strong relationship she has with her Clydesdale she rescued, Paul, and riding with her two incredible daughters, Vyctoria and Rocky. She also is blessed with an incredible service dog named Guinness; a loving husband, Steve; and their other four-legged children, Titan and Kennedy.
