The Crucible' by Arthur Miller. This book is a hardback published by Heinemann, Play Series. 1967. First published in 1953, Arthur Miller's play 'The Crucible' is a retelling of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692. Part fictionalised, the play alludes to the McCarthy era prosecutions for individuals accused of being Communists and questioned by the House of Representatives' Committee on Un-American Activities. PLEASE NOTE: This copy is an ex-school copy with a label to the back of the front board. The boards are rubbed to edges otherwise solid with distinctive black and orange design. Solid spine with is rubbed with closed, discreet tear to bottom. Short printed number to front endpaper with small name to top of this page.
