Her perfume was cloying, overpowering, and he couldn't stand the thought of her touching him any more. So he moved away as far as he could, even though she seemed to follow him. He closed his eyes, wishing his stop would come soon. He should never have come to Los Angeles without a car, for the effort of traveling about the city without his own transportation was taking its toll on him.
