Cry of the Firebird

One murdered doctor. Vanished research. Now, one woman must race against time to stop a pharmaceutical conspiracy before it spreads worldwide.

When Dr. Lily Winters is summoned to South Africa to validate the work of a colleague killed in a violent hijacking, she steps into the remnants of a life unraveled. Stolen research, a vandalized clinic, and the chilling echo of a cover-up. The missing data concerned a rare, aggressive strain of meningitis linked to HIV patients, and now, identical symptoms are surfacing in the vulnerable San community of Platfontein.

Partnering with Kalahari-born police officer Piet Kleinman and joined by her husband, world-famous musician Quintin Winters, Lily launches a perilous investigation. What they uncover points to a powerful pharmaceutical conglomerate, purposely supplying tainted drugs to unwitting patients, and silencing anyone who gets too close to the truth.

As they navigate a treacherous landscape of corrupt officials, and armed militias, time becomes their greatest enemy. For Lily, the mission is no longer just about justice or science, it's about survival. As her early-onset Alzheimer’s threatens to steal her mind, she must race not only to expose the truth, but to do so before her own memories fade away forever.
