Beneath the humdrum reality of life as most know it, there lies a secret, intriguing world that only a privileged few can access...Such is the story of Deen Ferrell's brilliantly-crafted novel Cryptic Spaces: Book One: Foresight, and oh, what a story it is.

I initially approached this book with pretty moderate expectations, as I've found most authors' debut novels to be, no matter how promising, somewhat stiff and unpolished. What I got instead, however, was the best story that I have had the pleasure of reading in a long while. Cryptic Spaces has all the key components of a great novel - well-developed and consistent characters, richly descriptive settings, whimsical dialogues, a smooth pacing and an utterly gripping plot. I particularly enjoyed how Ferrell skilfully blends scientific truths into the fiction - concepts like circumpolar stars, Riemann's hypothesis, Nostradamus' predictions are tied neatly into the story. This is worth so much more than five stars...So please, buy it. Read it. Love it. You will not regret that decision.
An Editorial Review from Chanticleer Book Reviews of Deen Ferrell's "Cryptic Spaces: Foresight" By Virginia Herrick

Willoughby Von Brahmer hates high school, feels restless at home, and fumbles awkwardly around girls, yet is fascinated by the charismatic celebrity violinist his own age, Sydney Senoya. He seems like a pretty typical sixteen-year-old. But when the reader begins to untangle the mysterious web of Foresight, it becomes clear that Willoughby's life is anything but typical. Foresight is Deen Ferrell's artful and ambitious first Cryptic Spaces novel....Ferrell's gifted descriptions, from Sydney's music to the experience of time travel, bring the story to life. The cast of characters is deftly drawn and admirably diverse. Some younger readers may find the density of the plot daunting, but others will revel in the richness of the history and science brought to the subject of time travel and prognostication. As the Observation, Inc. team's voyage of exploration becomes a battle for survival, Willoughby, Sydney and their friends realize they are bound together by more than curiosity. They need each other's talents, commitment, and compassion if they are to get through time and space alive. Foresight is a rich and complex YA sci-fi story....Book Junky's thoughts on "Cryptic Spaces: Book One: Foresight" from Bookbundlz.comupdated on:10/3/2013

Adventure awaits in the 2013 winner of "The Book Pick" contest! With exceptional writing and a truly imaginative storyline this epic tale does not disappoint...  Ferrell does what I love in a book - mix reality with myth and fantasy to make reality make sense in a way you never imagined...
I've decided I am going to hand out my own awards this year too. And Cryptic Spaces receives: Best Teen Book Club BookMost likely to be turned into a TV Series (a movie would be too short)
