Dr. Ra�l M. Shelton was a professor at the Universidad Cat�lica Santo Tom�s de Villanueva (Saint Thomas of Villanueva Catholic University) in Havana, Cuba, from 1951 to 1961, the year he went into exile. He continued teaching and retired Professor Emeritus from St. Thomas University, in Miami, Florida. He co-authored several important books with other academics from the University of Miami's Economic Research Group. His greatest aspiration has been to maintain and develop in Cuban-American youth a deeper understanding of their roots.

In this book Dr. Shelton presents the history of Cuba with an emphasis on the culture that has been the foundation of Cuban nationality. An essential book for the understanding of Cuba and Cubans.

About the Author

Raul M. Shelton taught at Saint Thomas Catholic University in Cuba from 1951 to 1961, the year he was forced into exile. He continued his studies in economy at the University of Miami and is currently Professor Emeritus from Saint Thomas University in Miami. He has written and published many books.
