Cuba's Evolution: Columbus to Castro

This thoughtfully composed visual tour of contemporary Cuba captures the island and its people emerging from a time capsule through vivid photographs and narrative vignettes that relate the story of the nation’s evolution from Columbus to Castro. Due to its recent shift in relations with the world, and the US in particular, Cuba’s complex, colorful history is again being rewritten. View Havana from San Carlos de la Cabaña, a fortress built in 1762, and absorb the pastel colors of iconic pre-1960 American convertibles against the backdrop of Cuba’s eclectic architecture. Glimpse rolling mountains and hills on the road to Playa Rancho Luna; Adelaida telling fortunes in the street; and boxing practice in a vacant lot in La Habana Vieja. Enjoy this historic moment before a slow but inevitable transformation changes this nation forever.
