WITH: A.F. Lambrechts Oblectationes et Observationes Anatomicae, 1751. Title in red & black; 9 woodcuts of surgical instruments. 247, [12]; [8], 64 pages. 16mo, full early calf (rubbed), ornately gilt spine. Lugduni Batavorum: Conradum Wishoff, 1731. Very good. Discovery of lymphatics. Fifth Edition of one of the forebears of the modern dissecting manual. Lyser was Bartholin's "presector" in Copenhagen and cooperated with him especially in the investigations of the intestinal lymphatics. Bartholin acknowledges Lyser's assistance in the preface, but refutes Rudbeck's accusation that Lyser, and not Bartholin, was the discoverer of these organs. Osler 3290.
