The Cupid Fate

"Elysium has taught me one thing. You don’t know someone until you know how they die."

Makaria, the Goddess of Blessed Death, is always on duty. She takes genuine joy providing a quiet, sunlit sanctuary for the forgotten heroes of the mortal world. Her life is perfectly peaceful and entirely untangled from the living—until a shifting reality bleeds straight through her gates.

When a living couple accidentally steps through a doorway into the afterlife, stalked by an inky, oil-slicked beast, Makaria realizes the ancient order is malfunctioning. To hunt down the corruption without alerting her father, Hades, she enters a strategic fake-dating arrangement with Cupid.

He treats romance like an addictive game, and her strategy to navigate the suspicious eyes of the Underworld is simple: play the part of a doting, inseparable couple while following one strict, unbreakable rule—no kissing.

But forced proximity with a god of desire is a dangerous performance. From a high-stakes family dinner to a blackmailed ruse that demands proof of their passion, their playful game quickly deepens into a divine intimacy neither can pretend away. In a realm of timeless stillness, they can no longer ignore the genuine heat between them.
