Born in Alsace, France, to Air Force parents, Dee Hobsbawn-Smith grew up across Canada. She ownsa catering company, is a food writer, and teaches cooking classes where she has worked alongside some of North America's best chefs. She was also the owner and chef of Foodsmith, a popular restaurant featuring avant-garde cuisine with a unique international twist.
Dee lives in Calgary with her two sons Darl and Dailyn who like cooking. A lover of pets, she has a Himalayan cat, two tabby cats, and a silver miniature Schnauzer. Dee enjoys sewing, reading, swimming, walking, golf, gardening, and music.
