Curious and Kind: A Story About Celebrating Differences

Curious and Kind is a heartwarming book that helps children learn how to celebrate differences through kindness, empathy, and respectful curiosity.

Marie loves school. She enjoys painting, reading, music, and playing with her friends. While working on a project for the Friendship Festival, Marie notices something special about each of her classmates. Camden moves fast in his wheelchair. Parker has a strong arm attachment. Lindsay uses a feeding tube. Cole wears hearing aids. Ollie has a colorful birthmark. Marie is curious about all of them, but she is not sure how to ask questions without being rude.

With help from her caring teacher, Marie learns how to ask with kindness, listen with care, and respect each person's boundaries. As she spends time with each classmate, she discovers the amazing things that make them who they are. Most of all, she learns that showing kindness and respect can help everyone feel safe and included.

This thoughtful and inclusive story encourages children to be curious in a positive way. It teaches that asking kind questions and respecting others' comfort levels can lead to real friendships and deeper understanding. Through gentle conversations and warm moments, Curious and Kind introduces young readers to important ideas like empathy, listening, consent, and celebrating what makes people unique.

Perfect for classrooms, libraries, and bedtime reading, this story supports early social and emotional learning. It is a helpful tool for parents and educators who want to foster conversations about kindness, differences, and how to treat others with respect.
