Current Topics in AIDS (Volume 1)

This authoritative work reviews the latest research findings of leading experts in the study of the AIDS virus, presenting specific topics of current interest and focusing especially on areas where the accumulated knowledge has reached a critical mass and in-depth analysis is required. Multidisciplinary in nature, it assimilates, identifies and incorporates a wide range of up-to-date reviews that collate relevant material from the vast amount of readily available literature into a ready to use working reference. Following a comprehensive overview, important topical coverage is given to such areas as the epidemiology of the heterosexual spread of HIV; the virological and clinical features of HIV-2; animal model systems and AIDS; vaccines for prevention; recent developments in the management of other opportunistic infections; the legal and ethical issues surrounding AIDS; strategies and treatment; opthalmic manifestations of HIV infection; and the molecular biology of HIV.
