Adelaide Cummings’ view of prose as expressed in her poem Cause For Wonder: “Who knows why they print this turgid prose. I, who do not hesitate to tread on toes, rate New Yorker "poetry" as I do the Emperor's clothes."
Adelaide Cummings' view of turning 95 as expressed in her poem Switch: "Now that 95's my age, Why do folks expect a sage? Alas, too prone to jovial quips, No wise words pour from my lips. Don't you agree it's sad to see, Such a self-inflicted fix? Surely they'll wise up to me before I'm 96!"
Adelaide Cummings' view of a friend's "Mr. Right" as expressed in her poem Friend's Dilemma: "Her Mr. Right he tarried long, So she up and married Mr. Wrong."
Adelaide Cummings' view of people who talk too much as expressed in her poem Orders: "When you talk too much I lose it. You have the right to silence. Use it."
Adelaide Cummings' view of southern cooking as expressed in her poem Recipe: ""Boil in oil, then slather butter." That's when I'm apt to hear you mutter "Calories will take some battening. Only southerners make vegetables fattening!""
Adelaide Cummings' view on aging and the ultimate journey as expressed in her poem Ahead, inspired by Dylan Thomas: "Blessed with zest for living, to most health woes immune, I greet each day, it's fair to say, rejoicing and in tune. So be sure I won't "go gentle into that good night," nor is it accidental, that the prospect holds no fright."

About the Author
With her varied, interesting and busy life, Adelaide Cummings did not take up poetry full time until she was in her eighties. She has written and published 6 books of poetry in the last 7 years. She credits her love of and prodigious production of poetry as a key to staying so sharp and active. Her "youthful spirit" is epitomized by the following story: Already fluent in French, she took up Italian at age 89. Her Italian teacher asked her why she was taking up a new language at such a late age. She replied, "because, I want to find an Italian lover!" Adelaide Cumming is not only an excellent poet, but she is a great role model for everybody!

We ship orders every day, Monday through Friday, (excluding Postal Service holidays) usually by 12PM. If you need to cancel or make changes to an order, please do so as soon as possible -- many requests we get regarding orders are not fulfilled because we find, pack, and ship the book before the buyer contacts us. Please note that the majority of our orders ship out within 24 hours, many shipping out the same day they are ordered. Since we usually ship around 12PM, most orders received Friday after 10AM will not go out until Monday. In some cases, we will make a trip on Saturday to get more orders out.
