Cybersecurity for Everyday Life: Computer Security for Regular People

Cybersecurity in Everyday Life is a plain-English practical security guide for ordinary Windows/home-computer users, especially people who are not technical and may feel overwhelmed by cybersecurity advice.

The book’s core message is that everyday people are now major targets for scams, fraud, malware, phishing, identity theft, and account compromise — not because they are careless or foolish, but because criminals exploit normal human habits: trust, urgency, helpfulness, distraction, and convenience. The book tries to replace fear and jargon with a practical “security mindset”: pause, verify, reduce exposure, and build simple habits that make common attacks much harder.

My goal with this book was to create a beginner-friendly, practical cybersecurity handbook for everyday people that teaches readers how to recognize common digital threats, protect their Windows computers and online accounts, secure their home networks, back up important data, respond calmly when something goes wrong, and build safer habits for themselves and their families.
