The first fifth of the book includes a biography of Kit Carson; the majority of the text is taken up with Fremont's report about his explorations of the Missouri, Kansas, and Platte Rivers, and a route through the Rocky Mountains. Publisher's purple cloth stamped in black, spine gilt. Spine sunned, minor edge wear. Hinges cracked, text uniformly tanned. Good. In a modern half morocco and cloth box, spine gilt, leather labels.
