DARK KNIGHTS: The Dark Humor of Security Officers

Police Officers are not the only force protecting the citizenry. For over 80% of the critical infrastructure in the United States, the first line of defense is a private security officer.

Private security shares many similarities with policing, but in too many instances security officers are not recognized as the protectors and upstanding citizens that they are. Another commonality between police officers and security officers is that rarely, if ever, are they seen as funny. However, when one stops to think about it for a second, it becomes clear that police officers are not alone in encountering some of the craziest, most eccentric, and most unexpected aspects of everyday society as a fundamental part of their job. Security officers also experience the strange, bizarre, and funny on a regular basis.

Author Robert L. Bryan is in a unique position to comment on the dark humor found in both occupations. As a former NYPD Captain, Bryan has written extensively in the Dark Knights series about the strange and humorous situations and people he encountered throughout his career. In Dark Knights 5 Bryan shares the equally funny stories from his experience in the world of private security and while conducting security training classes. Sometimes, a man has just got to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, and with his talent for turning a phrase and spinning a good yarn, Dark Knights: The Dark Humor of Security Officers spins plenty of hilarious stories which range from the horrifyingly funny to the downright weird.

Dark Knights: The Dark Humor of Security Officers manages to not just be a fantastic piece of light entertainment for those curious about the laughs within the world of private security, it also offers a truly fascinating insight into the profession. This darkly funny and somewhat twisted collection of tales and memories will not only make you laugh, it will also get you thinking about the role of private security in society today.
