About this Item

A good to very good copy of a DC-8 Systems Operation Manual as published for World Airways. The book is bound in a blue, three post binder with flexible covers that have silver lettering and a decoration on the front cover, and bold lettering on the spine. The book, which probably contains a 1000 pages or more, is divided into the following tab sections: I: The Airplane, II: Systems Description, Limitations, Operation, and Abnormal Operation; III: Operating Limitations. The manual was originally issued in 1961 and is designed to accept loose-leaf updates to each of the sections. The latest dates for the updates appear to be from 1971 as indicated in a 14 page list of revisions in front of the book. Per the foreword of the book "The DC-8 Systems Operation Manual has been provided to provide detailed instructions for use in preparing for operation of the DC-8 airplane". The text includes illustrations of various parts of the airplane controls, and charts and graphs relating to the plane's operations and technical specifications. A few pages contain small annotations in pencil made by the former owner of the book. The blue covers show some wear and creasing indicating that the manual was probably used by the former owner in learning about the operation of the airplane. World Airways was a key military contractor that flew troops and equipment to Vietnam and obtained several DC-8 planes in the early 1970s. This is a heavy book requiring additional postage for international order shipment. 4to; ~ 1000+ pages. 0.0 0.0 0.0. Bookseller Inventory # 21365
