This is the true story of the Laycock family of Wiseton in North Nottinghamshire and the establishment of a TB hospital in the nearby village of Gringley on the Hill.
The story runs for about a century from the acquisition of Wiseton Hall by the Laycock family in 1863 to the dispersal of the estate in 1970. Running parallel to the local story is the evolution of international understanding of the management of TB over a similar timescale and the relationships between the principal characters: the Duke of Portland, Joseph Laycock and Daisy Countess of Warwick.
