In 1872, Edgar Degas visited New Orleans, the birthplace of his mother. He spent the winter with his relatives in a handsome mansion at 2306 Esplanade Avenue. The works he created during his visit are at the heart of this exhibition. Foremost among them is A Cotton Office in New Orleans, which has become the emblem of Degas's American adventure.
