An excellent account of The Battle of Austerlitz, fought on 2 December 1805. This was a major victory for Napoleon Bonaparte's French army against the combined forces of Russia and Austria. Located near the town of Austerlitz, the battle resulted in a decisive French triumph, forcing Austria out of the Third Coalition and significantly impacting the course of the Napoleonic Wars. Stutterheim was well placed to write a history of this battle, having led a cavalry brigade in Michael von Kienmayer's Advance Guard column at the battle, which is considered one of Napoleon's most brilliant military victories and is remembered for its strategic genius and its impact on the geopolitical landscape of Europe. This is an important first-hand account of a battle that marked the high watermark of superior
