DEVELOPMENT OF ELITE FORCE IN CHINA

Xi stated that the Chinese armed forces must closely follow the evolution of technology, warfare, and rivals and double its efforts in effectively combining training with a wide variety of combat operations. The China we know today emerged at the end of a long period of internal rebellions, civil wars, foreign invasions, and revolutionary insurrections that stretched across the nineteenth century to the mid-point of the twentieth. The president also seeks improvement in systematic military exercises and technologies in developing an elite force to overcome potential conflicts. China is moving from a large military traditionally composed of conscripts to a modernized smaller and more professionalized armed force. What is the reason behind this transformation and its goals? How is this military transition, modernization, and professionalization affecting China's Special Operations Forces (SOF) and their capabilities? With the PLA Army's continuous upgrading of transformation and construction in recent years, troops with new combat capabilities have become increasingly prominent as the main combat forces. The special operations force, long- range firepower strike force and army aviation force have seen growth in several times, the improvement of long-distance striking capacity, and the utilization of more drones, helicopters and long-range firepower strike force all bring the PLAArmy closer to the strategic requirements of being able to perform mobile operations and multi- dimensional offense and defense. This book will look at China's military modernization and its shift from a traditionally large conscript force to one that is smaller, more professionalized, and able to win local wars under high tech conditions. Specifically, the focus will be China's SOF and how modernization and professionalization are affecting them and their capabilities.
