The diary opens at Southampton on 24 February 1916. 1916 is spent at Grenay, Albert, Barley and Puchevillers. 1917 is the most travelled year, 60 places against 45 in the next busiest, and is spent at Hollebeke Sector, Philosophe, Vielle Chappel, Locre and Maisnil St. Pol. 1918 at Heuringhem, Henin Rd Sector and Ypres. It closes at Henin Rd Sector on 28 February 1918. Hollebeke Sector is where it spent longest, 83 days, including a single unbroken stay of 83 and it came back to Puchevillers four separate times. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Farm D'Hoine, Donegal Farm, Bully Beef Farm and La Polka Farm. In 1916 it is also recorded at Harve, Doullens, Bailleulval, Halloy, Souastre, Humber Camp, Berles, Bresle, Wiry Au Mont and Estaires.
