Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Brigade Machine Gun Company, 119 Infantry Brigade, 40th Division, covering June 1916 to February 1918 across 189 pages. It names 51 places across 82 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries six reports, narratives and plans, six Operation Orders, nine appendices and three maps. Among the papers are: Operation order 119th Machine Gun Coy; Operation orders Central 119th M.G. Coy; Training orders of Capt of Amery Parking; Order for Move 119th M.G. Coy. Oct 8th 1917.; Relief orders Cmd 119th M G Coy; Orders for Brigade scheme. The diary opens at Grantham on 16 June 1916. 1916 is spent at Les Brebis, Les Celestins, Bruay, Epagne and Le Foret. 1917 is the most travelled year, 43 places against 21 in the next busiest, and is spent at Gonnelieu, Gouzeaucourt, Bouchavesnes and Monchiet. 1918 at Ervillers, St Leger and Neuville Vitasse. It closes at Ervillers on 28 February 1918. Les Brebis is where it spent longest, 120 days, including a single unbroken stay of 120 and it came back to Gouzeaucourt six separate times. In 1916 it is also recorded at Southampton, Le Havre, Orlencourt, Pt. Houvin, Rousefay, Montigny, Grimont, Wavans, Villers L'Hopital and Neuvillette. In 1917 it is also recorded at Camp 17, Le Foret, Camp 12, Rancourt, Camp 111, Camp 19 Clery, Curlu, Haut Allaines, Aizecourt Le Haut and Etricourt. In 1918 it is also recorded at St Legers.
