Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the 6th Battalion, Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire Regiment), 58 Infantry Brigade, 19th Division, covering July 1915 to September 1918 across 204 pages. It names 123 places across 172 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return and three reports, narratives and plans. Among the papers are: Approximate casualties of the 6th Wilts R Between the 10th April to 20th April 1918; Narrative of operations C Wiltshire Regt; Ask Division of the require way thing further with require to lessons; Lessons Learnt. The diary opens at Boulogne on 20 July 1915. 1915 is spent at Le Touret, L 'Epinette, Cornet Malo, Laventie and La Tombe Willot. 1916 at Boisbergues, Le Sart, Albert, Flesselles and Merris. 1917 is the most travelled year, 62 places against 47 in the next busiest, and is spent at Sailly, Lynde, Seninghem, Nr Ribecourt and Spoil Bank. 1918 at Haplincourt, Hawes Camp, Sanders Camp, N Locre and Nr Rocquigny. It closes at N Berthen on 10 September 1918. Boisbergues is where it spent longest, 45 days across three separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 31 and it came back to Le Sart four separate times. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Spoil Bank, Oostverne Wood, Ridge Wood, Opaque Wood, Denys Wood, The Trench, Authille Wood and Havricourt Wood. In 1915 it is also recorded at Nordausques, Arques, Lambres, Haverskerque, Paradis, Cuinchy, Le Quesnoy, Richbourg St Vaast, Le Sart and Vielle Chapelle. In 1916 it is also recorded at Hebuterne, Le Touret, Pont Du Hem, La Gorgue, Rue Des Chavatte, Paradis, Beauval, Croix Barbee, Merville and Kings Road Ruedes Chavatte. In 1917 it is also recorded at Beauval, Hebuterne, Louvencourt, Euston Camp, Puisieux, Yew Camp Bus, Neuvillette, Nuncq, Bours and Auchy-Au-Bois. In 1918 it is also recorded at Ribecourt, Hindenburg Line, Valley Trench, In The Trench, Vallulart Camp, Nr Haplincourt, Herzeele, Hazebrouck 6th 1/100,000, Lederzeele and Hazebrouck 5A.
