It names 25 places across 42 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one list of honours and awards, two casualty and personnel returns, six reports, narratives and plans, four Operation Orders, two appendices and one diagram. Among the papers are: Copy of Extract from "The Lines" London Gazette. honours; Casualties; Special order of the Day by His Majesty the King; Order; Battalion order; Organisation of Composite Battn London Regiment Relief of 6th Battn Welsh Regt. on Lines; Extract from Battalion order; Routine order by Colonel A, Sprat Commandent No 1 Sect S. of C. September 30th 1915. The diary opens at Crow Borough on 4 November 1914. 1914 is spent at Ploegsteert, Wisques, St. Omer, Havre and Romarin. 1915 is the most travelled year, 19 places against 9 in the next busiest, and is spent at Ploegsteert, Camp St Omer, St. Omer and In Camp St. Omer. 1916 at Voormezeele, Reninghelst and Dickebusch. It closes at Voormezeele on 31 January 1916. Ploegsteert is where it spent longest, 118 days across five separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 31 and it came back to Voormezeele six separate times. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Ploegsteert Wood and Wood. In 1914 it is also recorded at Southampton, Haaze Brouck and Baileul.
