Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Brigade Machine Gun Company, 62 Infantry Brigade, 21st Division, covering February 1916 to February 1918 across 177 pages. It names 93 places across 116 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries eleven reports, narratives and plans, thirteen Operation Orders, one appendix and one map. Among the papers are: Appendix. 1. orders by Cal. C.F. Dingwall. Commanding No 62 Co Machine Gun Corps; Orders 62 Co Machine Gun Corps; Orders 62 Co. M.G.C; Orders for Relief. The diary opens at Grantham on 23 February 1916. 1916 is spent at Vermelles, Arras, Ville, Meaulte and Armentieres. 1917 is the most travelled year, 62 places against 41 in the next busiest, and is spent at Revillion, Vox Vrie Farm, Blairville, Moyenville and Halloy. 1918 at Haut Allaines, Tincourt, Heaudecourt and Heudecourt. It closes at Ronssoy on 28 February 1918. Vermelles is where it spent longest, 83 days across three separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 77. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Vox Vrie Farm, Polygon Wood, Scottish Wood Near Dickebush, Scottish Wood, Mametz Wood, Pommiers Redoubt, Trones Wood and Westoutre & Scottish Wood. In 1916 it is also recorded at Southampton, Havre, Steinwerck, La Creche, Longneau, Cardonnette, Bonnay, Dernancourt, Ailly Sur Somme and Argoeuves. In 1917 it is also recorded at Poperinghe, Bethune, Vermelles, La Bourse, Robeck, La Miquellerie, Ligny-Lez-Aire, Bethonval, Sericourt and Bienvillers Au Bois. In 1918 it is also recorded at Heaudecourt In The Line.
